Mark And The Tiger

IMR: Thank you for your time today Mark! We would love to learn more about you – Describe yourself in 5 words or less

M.A.T.T.: Thank’s so much for having me! Hmmmm I think I’ll go with: Adventurous, mischievous, contemplative, easily distracted

Who has made the biggest impact on your life so far, and why?

M.A.T.T.: This is really hard to answer because there are so so many people who have had a big impact on who I am today. Honestly, I’m going to give a lot fo credit to myself because I made active choices to learn from the people that I’ve had the privilege to meet in my life. And also, I have to say my parents are the main reason I am where I am today. They’ve taught me a lot themselves, but more importantly they have supported me in everyeway possible so that I have been able to venture out in the world and make something of my life.

IMR: Do you ever get nervous before you play music live?

M.A.T.T.: Every single time. I keep waiting for the day when that doesn’t happen but I don’t know if it will ever come. But maybe that’s a good thing! I’m really trying to get better about channeling those nerves into energy onstage. I think that’s the key!

IMR: What is your next goal as a musician?

M.A.T.T.: Career wise, I want to get my music to become an import part of the zeitgeist. But personally, I just want to be the best musician I can be. I’m trying to get a handle of Logic and other DAW’s so that I can take more of an active hand in the production of my music. I’ve been so blessed to work with incredible talent, but I really want to become a bit more self sufficient. I want to feel like I can contribute something to every collaboration I’m a part of.

IMR: What is your favorite song to belt out in the car/for karaoke?

M.A.T.T.: Ooooo, there are different ones for different occasions, but I love singing “I Drove All Night” by Cyndi Lauper

IMR: Name one your strengths?

M.A.T.T.: I’m an incredible listener.

IMR: What is your own definition of happiness?

M.A.T.T.: Haha! These are such deep and meaningful questions for a musical interview! This is a much longer conversation…… but in the simplest terms: I just want to be fulfilled in every aspect of my life.

IMR: How do you see yourself in 5 years?

M.A.T.T.: Ideally, I’ll be working on my third album after finishing up the world tour for my second album!  My podcast, Adventure Attitude, will have kicked off and become incredibly successful, sparking adventure after adventure after adventure. My kids book for Mark and the Tiger will be a NY Times best seller. And fuck it, I’ll take three Grammy’s, Thanks!

IMR: How would you describe your fashion style?

M.A.T.T.: I’ll describe it the way my stylist friend told me to think about my style: I want to look like Stevie Nicks there up on me. But I want to be able to stop, drop, and do yoga at any given moment of the day.
