My review:

Good:

  • Songs sounded cool
  • I really dug the song ‘Nine’, really enjoyed that.

Not so good:

  • Lighting and sound weren’t the best
  • Started at 8:20 instead of “kicking off at 7:30” (as quoted by the event page on Facebook) which is challenging for audience build-up.

Set List:

  1. So Low
  2. Paramount
  3. Show Me The Way
  4. Underground Gay Bar
  5. Perfect In My Head
  6. Partying while Sitting
  7. Nine (video I took, and posted)

Innerwest Express was formed in 2016, and was in the following years characterised by its constantly changing line-ups. With a sound shaped around a couple of chorus pedals, overdriven guitars, big drum beats and unconventional lyrical themes. Their vocals and guitar riffs remind me of the bands; Pavement, Regurgitator and to a certain degree: Queens of the Stone Age (and Grinspoon too).

They’re primed and ready to take their unique aural experience to a venue near you. So keep an eye out for these guitar-driven party boys.
