Dawn 07-21-18 (Live @ The Lansdowne)

Dawn – It was great theatre, as well as great music.

Gig date: 21st July 2018

Venue: The Lansdowne, Sydney, Australia

Country of origin: Sydney, Australia

Members: Emily, Dharma, Camilla and Katrina

Support or headline: Support for Zeahorse (Sydney)

Good crowd/bad crowd: Crowd was pretty good, I think they were just quieter so they could get lost in Dawn’s music- because that’s what happened to me.

Number of times seen band: 1

Crowd participation: There were loads of people jumping up and down and (yet again) headbanging. I guess people just love to head-bang.

Genre: Doom Metal

Rating: 6/10 guitars

My review:

  • Groovy tunes
  • Personally, I wouldn’t say they’re a metal band so much as I’d say they’re a Doom Punk band. (But that’s just me)
  • Their look is amazing
  • The fold-back from their mics and or amps kept going off (sound guy was having a little trouble)

Set List:

  1. Wanting
  2. Unholy Mass
  3. The Sun
  4. Zombies
  5. Day Of The Lord

Dawn is a four-piece female doom metal band from Sydney. Hypnotising the audience to join in their rituals and enter the circle of darkness- heavy riffs and slow mesmeric hymns are celebrated. With a mix of trance-like vocals, fuzzed out bass, their self-titled EP is nothing short of a hypnotic wall of doom. Good luck getting passed/out of their spell. (Insert evil laugh) It was great theatre, as well as great music.
