Louis Baker – tou utuafare Ko toku hapu (your family is my family, in Maori)

Gig date: 13th July 2018

Venue: Leadbelly, Newtown, Sydney, Australia

Country of origin: Wellington, New Zealand

Member: Louis Baker

Support or headline: Headline

Good crowd/bad crowd: Dead silent due to being completely captivated. Which is what you want as a performer: impact.

Number of times seen band: 1

Crowd participation: I know I said that the crowd was dead silent (above) but don’t get me wrong. They were singing and cheering in almost every song, but they were also very quiet and captivated as each new song commenced. Louis has a mesmerising quality to both his voice and charisma, then he has you hooked and into it. A very clever and talented performer extremely well supported by back-up vocalist Lisa, too.

Genre: Soul, Singer-songwriter

Rating: 9/10 guitars

  • Love his voice, very powerful and soulful
  • Held notes extremely well
  • Lisa (backing vocals) is such a beautiful singer.
