LAFAYETTE, LA ROCK BAND’S DEBUT EP, THE WEIGHT,
ARRIVES MARCH 13, 2026

PERFORMING AT SXSW 2026 IN AUSTIN, TX
Today, Louisiana band Cashier are excited to share “Part From Me,” the latest preview of their debut EP, The Weight, available March 13, 2026, via Julia’s War Recordings. Urgent guitars unfurl as bandleader Kylie Gaspard’s powerful vocals break through walls of sound.
Capturing the back and forth of a strained relationship, the four-piece approach faulty connections with hard-edged but lush riffs. An official music video for the track also premieres today, featuring the band drenched in psychedelic graphics as they tear through the new single and go through their daily lives.
“I had a lot of fun writing this song,” Kylie says. “Musically, it’s a love letter to singing, and a celebration of rock guitar. I was trying to find something playful for the verses, and I created this melody that goes back and forth with the guitars.
Lyrically, the song seeks connection, exploring the distance between two people; the push and pull of coming back around to each other, but the connection never quite making it – like when two magnets repel – and the invitation to be/not be a part of another person’s life.”

PRE-ORDER THE WEIGHT
Last month, Cashier signed to Julia’s War Recordings and announced their imminent debut EP.. Known for their shoegaze roots, the band takes a slightly different approach on the upcoming project, laying precise guitar work and honest songwriting on top of their dense sound.

They also shared an official visualizer for the lead single, filmed throughout previous tours across the U.S. Cashier was recently named one of the “Most Exciting Rising Artists of 2026” by Alternative Press, who praised their “deliriously good rock songs.”

ABOUT CASHIER:
In the current wave of rock bands, Cashier stand out for the deep emotional weight they carry, and the clarity with which they wield it. Since their inception, the Lafayette, Louisiana, four-piece has built a buzz around their underlying heaviness that drives both their ambition and impact, quickly embedding themselves in the national DIY circuit, while remaining true to their Cajun roots.
Sharing stages with genre titans like Dinosaur Jr., Whirr, Nothing, and Narrow Head, Cashier are building a reputation for a massive sound that resonates far beyond their bayou home. Early singles established the band’s ability to unite grunge, shoegaze, post-hardcore, and indie rock heads alike, lacing dissonance with undeniable melodic hooks. Bandleader Kylie Gaspard’s deeply direct vocal delivery cuts through dense riffs, grounding their songs with her gritty, emotional lyrics.
That sound reaches full definition on The Weight, Cashier’s debut EP, which captures the band’s most precise songs yet. Peeling back some layers of dissonance to reveal more vibrant and clear tones, the four-piece adopted a laser-focused approach to songwriting and arrangement that made every chord count. Recorded entirely in their hometown at producer Chad Viator’s home studio, the songs distill themes of desire, insecurity, and disconnection into five tightly wound, melody-driven songs.
In energy-filled songs like “Part From Me” and “Like I Do”, riffs charge forward with meticulous urgency, carried by driving rhythms that echo the matter-of-factness of ’90s emo. The noise interlude “For I Never Knew You” briefly cuts through the EP’s harmonic momentum, setting the stage for the realizations that bubble to the surface in closers “Same Mistakes” and “The Weight.” Across the EP, Cashier balance force and restraint, allowing Gaspard’s blunt, fiercely heartfelt words to remain the emotional anchor.
Ultimately, Cashier’s search for serenity arrives at a sobering awareness: The Weight is something we all carry, and there’s no turning back once you’ve made your choices in this life. Everyone bears their own baggage, but Cashier give meaning to the shared impulse to set it down, even when you know relief is out of reach.
