Los Angeles-born and now London-based multidisciplinary artist Veronica Bianqui returns today with the announcement of her sophomore album, Use Once Then Destroy, due out November 13th, 2026 via NX Records. Alongside the announcement, Bianqui is sharing lead single “All My Heroes Are Dead,” a cheeky, candid, and cathartic burst of energy that introduces the record’s larger-than-life world.
“Every once in a while I get the absurd impulse to bleach my hair, like that’s somehow going to change how I feel inside,” Bianqui shares. “When I wrote ‘All My Heroes Are Dead,’ that urge came back, and I could feel my self-destructive side creeping in again — so instead of acting on it, I turned it into a character.
I imagined a bratty teenager who’d decided everything was a bit shit and leaned all the way into the chaos. There’s a lot of me in her, but she’s exaggerated — the volume turned all the way up. The song became my way of bringing some levity to a heavy subject, and reminding myself not to take every dark thought so seriously.”
On Use Once Then Destroy, Bianqui builds a world of larger-than-life characters — obsessive lovers, antiheroes, rock stars, self-destructive brats. Familiar rock ‘n’ roll tropes are exaggerated, inverted, and reimagined through dark humor, vivid storytelling, and a playful approach to the genre’s mythology. Bianqui balances sharp satire with emotional intensity to explore obsession, desire, power, and disposability, while questioning the myths we create around ourselves and others.
Written over four years following her move from Los Angeles to London, the album emerged during a period of profound loss and personal change that reshaped both her life and artistic direction. It developed alongside the completion of two Master’s degrees—an MMus in Popular Music and an MFA in Creative Practice at Goldsmiths University—where Bianqui deepened her practice as a producer, embracing the recording studio as an extension of the songwriting process.
Adopting a more DIY approach, Bianqui gave herself permission to follow ideas without knowing exactly where they would lead. She self-produced the record–playing much of it herself–and recording wherever the project could move forward. Outside musicians and engineers still contributed along the way — among them, Omar Yakar (Courtney Barnett, Warpaint), who mixed the record — but the studio became less a place to execute finished ideas than to discover them.
Trusting her own instincts, she approached the recording process with a renewed sense of play, allowing songwriting and production to evolve together. Rather than smoothing every rough edge, Bianqui let curiosity and instinct guide the process. The result is a record that pairs classic pop craftsmanship with punk energy and inventive production, moving fluidly between satire, confession, and a cast of heightened personas.
