OUT NOW–LISTEN
Today, Brooklyn, NY-based singer-songwriter and producer Tomás Tomás shares the hazy, dreamlike official music video for “I Gotta Look Up More,” a warm, soft visual that captures a lifelong search for meaning, fulfillment, understanding and what truly matters. The artist’s dreamy, cinematic debut EP Sweet Sleep is out now.
Co-directed by actor Jaeden Martell (IT, Knives Out, Defending Jacob), the latest video, which serves as part two in a three-part series, unfurls like a dim, distant dream. Throughout, the pair ponder the meaning of life and what a fulfilling life might look like.
Tomás Tomás says, “Jaeden and I are always talking about meaning within life. It’s so hard to make sense of it all. It can drive you mad trying to see the signs. Eventually everything becomes a sign. It felt natural to make a video about that exact thing.
The search for meaning. The search for what truly matters. I like to think that when you find the answer you get rewarded. Not in any materialistic way, but a feeling of fulfillment and understanding. Somehow we were able to convince a bunch of insanely talented people to help us make this ridiculousness and I think we may have pulled it off.”
The directors were inspired by other handycam, homemade, chaotic videos–ones that prompt questions like, “How did they do this?” and “What’s real?” Concluding with a big dance, the two aimed to celebrate life’s beauty and remind viewers it’s never too late to make it or start living. On the video’s concept, Martell adds, “There’s no wrong way or right way, it’s nuanced.
The point of the video is not at all to say don’t party. Any way of life has its own problems and that’s the point. His domestic life in Part 2 is boring and he’s still got his Old Man face on (which to us means this guy FEELS decrepit, like an old man). Something’s missing in both realities, it’s on him to go out and find the meaning, the dance, the love, the waterfall.”
On the track itself, Tomás Tomás calls it a “private conversation,” as it delves into the difficulties of vulnerability and how it feels to open up to someone. The musician adds, “I was coming off a really bizarre year. A lot of growth and experience, but I was completely burnt out. I had a lot of stuff that I pushed to the side. A lot of feelings I chose to ignore. I entered a period of heavy isolation and wrote a bunch of music as sort of an exercise in reflection.”
Tomás Tomás is the artful musical project from Tom Fattorusso whose previous roles include assistant director and composer for campaigns such as the Savage x Fenty Show. Now, with his heart on his sleeve, the artist has released a soothing collection he calls, “music you walk to.” It was built as a refuge from the overstimulation of the world–an effort to get rest for the soul.
Sweet Sleep is a seven track dreamscape that allows the artist to pose questions on how to cope with reality, eventually concluding the answers may be unattainable. But even that sentiment is more comforting than existing without thought. It was produced across several of his friend’s living room floors, using just his headphone microphone and a Scarlett solo interface. He later collaborated with Alex Black-Bessen and Tim Voet to put the finishing touches on the project.

ABOUT TOMÁS TOMÁS
Tomás Tomás is a project curated by singer/songwriter & producer Tom Fattorusso from Monroe-Woodbury, New York, now residing in New York City. Tomás’ creative path has been anything but conventional. He began making beats on a hand-me-down Samsung laptop using a pirated copy of FL Studio, experimenting in parking lots outside Rockland Community College and chasing textural soundscapes.
After years working behind the scenes as an assistant director and composer for campaigns such as the Fenty x Savage fashion show, Tomás found himself returning to music–this time stripped down, deeply personal, unapologetically honest.
Most recently, the Brooklyn-based artist and producer released “9TH LIFE,” accompanied by a self-directed music video & the announcement of a forthcoming short film, I Gotta Look Up More, co-directed by actor Jaeden Martell (IT, Knives Out, Defending Jacob) & Tomás Tomás, marking both of their directorial debuts. The collaboration sets the stage for Tomás’ debut EP SWEET SLEEP, out now.
